Discover the beauty and durability
of applied ceramic labels.

The look of your bottle says a lot of about the quality of the product. When you use traditional glued-on paper labels, you run the risk of ripping, scuffing or torn edges from transport and handling. In contrast, applied ceramic labels (ACL) are directly screen printed onto the bottle, removing those risks and giving your product a refined, smooth look. The ACL process also opens up a world of elegant design options that are impossible with traditional paper labels, like wrapping around the entire bottle and using the glass itself as a graphic element. Here’s an overview of how ACL is done.

Start with a great design.

You can either bring us artwork you’ve developed or use our skilled in-house teams to create a design that will get your product noticed on the shelves.

Chose your perfect bottle.

We have a full range of stock and proprietary bottles for beer, spirits, wine or specialty beverages—from 50ml to 18L. You’ll find one that perfectly fits your product and your brand.

Time to burn.

Once your design and bottle choices are finalized, we turn the graphics into film separations and “burn” the images onto screens using a photo process.

Design meets bottle.

Using up to six screens (six colors), our decorating machines apply your design to the bottles with ceramic or organic paints. Depending on the design and range of colors, we may make a single pass or multiple passes for front, back and neck applications.

Beauty baked in.

Decorated bottles go into a special oven called a “lehr” for the re-annealing process, where we heat the bottle and ceramic paint to their melting points. This creates an enduring bond without ever compromising the quality of the glass.

Quality assured.

The re-annealing process uncovers manufacturing defects in the bottle that are often missed with traditional paper labeling. We can remove those bottles before they get in the hands of customers.

Cooled and protected.

We slowly cool the bottles back down to room temperature and apply a protective coating to keep your design looking great.

Shipped to you.

Finally, we pack the bottles into cartons and deliver by the shipping option that meets your schedule and budget. You can also have us create custom cartons with your graphics.
